Runningball

Who was it that named football soccer and runningball football in America? Football [soccer] has been played for centuries worldwide and has always been called football. So why is that one of the newest games in history was given that name when it doesn't have anything to do with feet or even a real ball?

It is my opinion that soccer should be renamed to the world standard name football and American football renamed to runningball. Better yet, why not eradicate it all together? It is an embarrassment to America. ASmong other things, the "sport" requires no skill. The game relies on sheer brutality to run, a deformed ball from one end of a field to another. One team has the small fast guy carry the ball while the other team uses a big brute to stop him. Where is the sportsmanship in that?

Give me a good baseball game any day.
